Hepatitis A Test

The Hepatitis A Antibody Test is a blood test that screens for this hepatitis virus.

The virus that causes Hepatitis A causes an acute illness and never becomes chronic.

Cause:

The Hepatitis A Virus (HAV) can be spread through contaminated food or water (mainly in unsanitary conditions).  It can also spread through close human contact (oral or fecal route).



Clinical Significance HAV antibody indicates prior or acute infection with, or immunization to, Hepatitis A virus.
